GFN Delivers Petition to the Dutch Senate – June 16th
On June 16th of 2020, the GFN delivered a petition demanding the Dutch Senate to reject a proposed law which would enable police brutality.
This law would make suspicion and prosecution of police officers after violent action even more difficult. This would especially affect groups such as: Racial and Ethnic Minorities, Immigrants, Sex Workers, Homeless people, Religious Minorities, and the LGBT community. It would also jeopardize citizens’ rights to protest, as it would become increasingly difficult for those in law enforcement to be held properly accountable for police brutality. This law will clear the path for an increased use of violence towards citizens living in The Netherlands.
